De Dion Propshaft Refurbishment

This project consisted of refurbishment of the front propshaft universal joint.  The existing joint had suffered substantial wear and the project consisted of reaming the joint yokes to a larger size and manufacturing larger drive pins.  The diameter of the existing drive pins was 5/8”. This was increased to 16mm (an increase of 0.125mm) which was sufficient to remove the ovality of the yokes without compromising their strength.  The yokes were aligned in a vertical milling machine prior to reaming to ensure the new reamed bores were in alignment with the original centres.
